Washstand – A classic washstand can elevate a plain sink into something more interesting while adding a sense of space. In this smart powder room, it works perfectly with the vintage-style faucets, checkerboard floor tile and subway wall tile. A hexagonal mirror and armed wall lamps with shades also add a traditional touch.
Barrel – A barrel drum turned sink stand becomes an instant focal point in a small powder room. Whether you have a sink installed inside the barrel or have the barrel modified to be a sink itself, talk to a local designer to see how much this custom treatment will cost. The best part about this barrel is the label on the side. Consider printing and applying one of your own designs to your new sink.

The small detail of cantilevered vanity keeps it from looking clunky. If you have an outdated vanity, look closely at the hardware on this unit. A coat of paint and new hardware can bring your bathroom up to date. This vanity keeps the bathroom looking much more open. In order to have a look like this work, you will need storage elsewhere in the bathroom. One thing I suggest is seeing if your contractor can install a closet or a nook large enough for towels and toiletries in the bathroom wall. Sometimes you can borrow the space from a bedroom closet that backs up to the bathroom.
I think this trend exploded in the eighties, usually in the same arrangement. It was a long counter atop a large clunky vanity that extended all the way to the floor. I’m not quite sure when the name ”Jack and Jill Sinks” came about, but I suppose it had something to do with fetching a pail of water. Anyway, the days of the same old clunky vanity are long gone. Designers have created an endless variety of ways to arrange two sinks in bathrooms. Let’s take a look at a few!
A long light colored counter, undermount sinks and unexpected large faucets keep this bathroom fresh and contemporary. Translucent doors, gorgeous wood, and hardware mounted to the walls are great accompaniments to these matching bowl sinks. This space saving industrial double sink is an all-time houzz favorite of mine. Here the sinks protrude from one long wood wall unit, giving it a long uniform look. It’s a great contrast to the glass wall across from it.
